How safe is it where you live..? Do you agree with the list of the first 25 cities listed in the survey...?

(Oct. 30) - A list of the safest and most dangerous cities overall, as compiled by Morgan Quitno Press, which bases the rankings on FBI figures. The list starts with the safest cities and ends with the most dangerous.

Only cities that reported crime rates were included in the list. For example, New Orleans was not included this year because its police department did not report figures.

No matter what the crime rate is where you live, you should never consider yourself to be completely safe. I have known people who live in gated communities who have been robbed and beaten. Just because you live behind a gate doesn't insure your safety.

I looked at that list and didn't see a single city within 100 miles of where I lived and I looked at the whole thing! I guess some of us just live out where most of America doesn't see us!
Reply:i think this list is stupid because they are probably just population 2 towns. Or something like that. I would much have preferred a question regarding the safest cities with 500,000+ cities.

to tell you the truth, the only city i've heard of on here is irvine.

Reply:I live in Indy.. where I live the crime isn't that bad, but there are places in Indy that is .. so I'm not sure where we would be on the list
Reply:It doesn't look like some people even bothered to read the question before putting in their two cents worth (please give them change). First, they may have to look up the definition of a city (not population 2) and then, they may want to read that this is a list of the safest, not most dangerous, cities. As for the city I live in, I do not know where in the ranking it would be, but probably very low. There seems to be a crack epidemic. I will be moving to a safer area within 4 years for this very reason. Ofcourse no place is completely safe, but I would like to "better my odds" so to speak.
Reply:I have to wonder about the list, for example Washington D C is the murder Capital of the USA- why is it missing. I would dam sure walk the streets of Port St Lucie before I would Wash D C at night. and a hell of a lot of other places.
