Coverletter/reference list when you don't want your current employer to know you are looking?

My fiance is looking for a new job but does not want his current employer to know he is looking (until the prospective new employer is ready to make an offer). What wording should he use in his coverletter? All of the references he would like to list work for his current company (and word travels fast) therefore, what should he do about a reference list? Any suggestions or suggested resources would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

C

Coverletter/reference list when you don't want your current employer to know you are looking?
I never put a list of references on a cover letter or resume that I'm sending out as an initial introduction.

Companies usually don't start contacting your references until after they have interviewed you and feel that you are still in the running for the position.

There is no need to disclose any of his references when the company hasn't even contacted him yet. In fact, it's a very bad idea to have that list circulating around.

Just put "References available upon request" or something to that effect.

Then, when the company asks for his references, give them the name of someone who he has already spoken to about his job search. That will give him the chance to ask his reference to keep things private in case he doesn't get the job. Most people will understand and keep things confidential.
Reply:have ur fiance list individuals that he trusts within his company otherwise have him list any professional individuals that he knows. provide their personal contact numbers, not work. good luck.
