I had two operating system in my PC I formated drive C, now I have one but how can I remove it from list?

I formated one drive and now I have only one operating system but there is still the name of it at the beginning when I start the windows, before starting it tells which operating system you want to start, so how can I remove the name of one operating system? So that it directly start with that operating system.

I had two operating system in my PC I formated drive C, now I have one but how can I remove it from list?
If you have Windows XP currently installed, open the properties of My computer.Select the Advanced tab.Under the heading 'Startup and recovery', take Settings.Under the heading 'System Startup', select Edit. A notepad file will appear. There are two Headings. One is [boot loader] and other is [operating system].Under the [operating system],commands will be given in two lines. The first line contains the command to open the first operating system. The second line contains the command to open the second operating system.Delete the line which contains command to open the operating system which you have formatted.Save the file from file menu.Restart the computer. You can see that the operating system which you have formatted will not appear in the boot menu and system will automatically boot to Windows XP.

If you donot have Windows XP, Sorry I don't know how to solve this problem.

I think your computer's problem will be solved. Best of Luck from Jonnan.
Reply:If you are on Win2K or XP go to control panel. administrative tools, and drive management.

If you find you have two partitions, which is very likely you need to delete the empty one and then add it back so you can use it from Windows.

With two Operating Systems they generally are set to run from different drive partitions. Reformatting one only reformats that partition it does not remove or make it available to the other operating system thus you still get the two boot option.
Reply:You can easily delete it out by bringing up recovery console. You can access the recovery console by rebooting, or, by using the command prompt...........

Reply:Hello Friend! If u have Windows XP curently on ur machine, just boot ur machine using Windows XP CD(change ur BIOS setting to boot from CD-ROM/DVD-ROM before attempting this) and after few minutes, Windows XP will ask u 3 options such as

1. Press enter to install Windows

2. Press R to enter Recovery Console

3. Press F3 to quit

use the second option " Press R to enter Recovery Console: by simply pressing the R key on ur keyboard. Windows will now prompt u to repair the C: local drive. Press key "1" to continue. Windows will now prompt for the administrator password. Type and wait till u get the command prompt.

At the command prompt use the command "fixmbr" (with out quotes). which repairs the master boot record of the boot disk.

Syntax

fixmbr [device_name]

Parameter

device_name

The device (drive) on which you want to write a new master boot record. The name can be obtained from the output of the map command. An example of a device name is:

\Device\HardDisk0.

Example

The following example writes a new master boot record to the device specified:

fixmbr \Device\HardDisk0

After fixing the mbr simply type exit to reboot ur machine. (don't 4get to remove ur cd from cd-rom)
Reply:You have to format it again i had that same problem it won't be removed untill you format the drive
