List of the greatest body shots?

Recently mentioned was Hopkins on De La Hoya. What about Arturo Gatti on Leonard Dorin? He almost chopped him in half! Is there a top ten list? C'mon guys, lets see whatcha got!

List of the greatest body shots?
Gerry Cooney's bodyshot on Ron Lyle. It broke Lyle's ribs and was the hardest body clout I've ever seen.

Roy Jones landed a nasty one on Virgil Hill.

Any Tony Zale bodyshot can make the list, but the one that setup the KO of Graziano in their third fight was a beauty. Paralyzed Rocky from the neck down.
Reply:Gerald McCellen KO ed Julian Jackson with a body shot in there second fight was one of the greatest body shots ive seen. Also when Jeff Lampkin fought Glenn McCrory for the IBF cruiserweight title a far while back, he caught him with a wicked body shot to win the fight in the third.
Reply:Mike Tyson vs Michael Spinks first knockdown.
Reply:When Roy Jones broke Virgil Hills Ribs
Reply:no list would be complete without Roy jones jr. kncokout of virgil hill where a body shot broke his ribs
Reply:I don't know enough for a list, however "Irish" Micky Ward was a devastating body puncher. In 1997 Ward fought Alfonso Sanchez, who was 16-0, in a 10 round bout in Las Vegas. Ward had been knocked down in the fifth, and lost the first six rounds on the judges scorecards. I watched the fight live. Ward probably landed only a few punches per round. In the seventh, he landed a left to the body, and Sanchez went down like a sack of bricks. Ward won by KO. Probably the best body punch I've ever seen. I was a fan of Ward's, and saw him win by KO several times with a body shot.

I got nothing, sorry to disappoint...
Reply:You have the boxing world view...

Again, you made me remember a story that I have not told in years. Way back in 1980, during a prelim tourney with the Irish National Team, US Olympic Boxing coach Tom "Sarge" Johnson told his guys, "These Irishmen have been out drinking beer all night long. One shot to the gut and it's all over." Each fight ended with a shot to the body. Redheads bent over and dropping everywhere.

Take off our hats now...Sarge and that whole team (except Bobby Czyz, who did not travel that trip) died in a plane crash in Poland in 1980.

People forget this when they talk about the rest of the decade. How many more great fighters did we miss?
